Sun 24th Aug 2008: A Flag Raising Moment at the New Hexham Swimming Pool . As part of the celebration of the opening of a new swimming pool development in Hexham on 28th August, Tynedale Council and North Country Leisure (NCL) Tynedale held an Olympic flag raising moment at Wentworth Leisure Centre on Sunday 24th August. Fri 22nd Aug 2008: Bank holiday changes to refuse collection. Due to the August bank holiday it is necessary to revise refuse collection days. Thu 21st Aug 2008: Serving up a multi million pound feast for swimmers in Tynedale. An ultra modern, stylish new swimming pool development due to open at Wentworth Leisure Centre in Hexham will be serving up a veritable feast of leisure and fitness activities for customers of all interests, ages and abilities. Tue 19th Aug 2008: After receiving complaints from businesses around Hexham Market Place about the level of noise from market traders at particular times Tynedale Council felt that it had to officially ask the operators if they would tone this down. Fri 8th Aug 2008: Tynedale Council and Hexham FC net football grant. Tynedale Council and Hexham Football Club are celebrating following the award of a £463,815 grant by the Football Foundation, the UK's largest sports charity. Tue 5th Aug 2008: Commercial waste collection to wheeled bins. From October 2008 businesses in Allendale, Corbridge, Haydon Bridge, Hexham and Prudhoe who use Tynedale Council's commercial waste collection service will be provided with wheeled bins. Northumberland County Council has announced the temporary closure of the Haltwhistle household waste recovery centre from 7:30pm on Friday 25th July until week commencing 15th September, whilst improvements are being carried out to enlarge and update the site. Mon 7th Jul 2008: Haltwhistle Film Project features new film promotion for Selefest. Young people from Haltwhistle Film Project are set to premier their latest work at the Forum Cinema, Hexham. Thu 3rd Jul 2008: Tynedale Council is driving improvements, with work soon to begin on resurfacing Hexham's Wentworth car park. New community involvement document underway. Tynedale Council is working with the other local authorities in Northumberland to produce a joint 'statement of community involvement' for the new unitary council. Mon 30th Jun 2008: Relocation of recycling facilities within Wentworth Car Park, Hexham. Due to resurfacing works being carried out in the Wentworth car park, it has been necessary to relocate the recycling banks to a temporary site within the car park. Wed 25th Jun 2008: Midsummer highlight for North East Civic Heads. Herbs, bumble bees and a Roman centurion were among the highlights for Civic heads from all over the North East when they visited Tynedale for a special day to showcase a slice of the district's unique heritage. The Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) has announced that it has made an allocation of £281,000 to Tynedale Council and partners for improvements to homeless accommodation in Hexham.
